We ask for your prayers for Sarah Synovec, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. While this is a very serious disease, we are all encouraged by the fact that Sarah's doctors give her a ninety-percent probability for recovery.
Nevertheless, Sarah is facing a rough course of treatment in the months ahead. She started a course of chemo-therapy in mid-June which will continue every two weeks. After she completes twelve of these treatments, the plan is to begin radiation therapy.
We had the opportunity to deliver a Prayer Shawl from our Cathedral Knitting Ministry the night before her first treatment and spent a delightful evening with Sarah and her family. The shawl was made by David Wingerson's grandmother, Bea, and is a delightful pink piece resembling cotton candy. Just perfect for Sarah!
Sarah, of course, has been her usual positive self, describing this as "a learning experience." She has completed her first year at the University of Nebraska where she is majoring in Biology. Her goal is to become a doctor. She plans to return to school this Fall and will continue her chemotherapy at the University Medical Center in Omaha while at school.
Sarah has had a tremendous outpouring of support from her many friends that will certainly help her weather the storms as this runs its course. She has started a blog which you can access at www.caringbridge.org/visit/sarahsynovec for the latest on how she's doing. You may also send your messages to her at that site.
Please join us as we keep Sarah and her family at the forefront of our thoughts and continuing prayers.
